If you have not heard the case of Marissa Alexander, prepare to be appalled.

A young mother who was being physically abused by her husband and decided to do something about it could go to jail for the remainder of her natural born life if a jury does not stand up for her.

After being threatened by her husband one night in 2010, Marissa Alexander decided that enough was enough, and she fired a warning shot from her legally owned gun to stop the father of her children from tormenting her. One warning shot, which did not strike or injure anyone and was fired into the air, could land Alexander in jail for 60 years if convicted of three counts of aggravated assault.
